Able has been working in the performing arts for the past 8 years since he attended his first stand-up comedy and improv classes at UC Santa Cruz. He began performing stand-up comedy in 2006, and has performed multiple times at Rooster T. Feathers, the Queer Fashion Show, and at fundraisers for Queer Camp Bay Area. He got his start in improv at the Fun Institute school of improv in Santa Cruz, and later auditioned for and became a member of Scriptease Improv & Sketch Comedy. In his 2 and a half years as a member of the troupe, Scriptease sold out audiences, performing in their unique competitive short-form format. Currently he is a member of both Crystal Starship Improv (a short form troupe based in Mountain View), and Leela’s newest long-form troupe, Pretty Larceny. He just performed stand-up comedy at the Hella Gay Comedy Festival in Oakland, and is currently taking voiceover classes at Voice One in San Francisco. He is also teaching beginners improv classes in the East Bay, and TA-ing for Leela’s Improv 1 class. He believes that improv carries over into every facet of life. Thinking on your feet and responding in the present moment facilitates a much more grounded, playful, and sincere way of interacting with the world and with the everyday unpredictable changes in life.
